Histoires de femmes
Theater play in NOIRES’ streets
Performed in the streets of NOIRES, Histoires de Femmes is a play inspired by reminiscences of the places Roxane Mbanga calls home. She remembers the streets of these cities, the activity of these enterprising, elegant, ambitious or potomitans (in Antillean Creole, designates the “central pillar” of a structure, referring to women, especially mothers, who play a fundamental role in family and society in Guadeloupe and Martinique) women, and their way of inhabiting public space. From sunrise to sunset, from dreams to reality, Roxane Mbanga takes us into their daily lives. Wild, narrow, warm and dangerous, these streets reveal how they shape women’s identities.
